Change happens to all of us during our course of life..it can be reflected as an exciting time in our life or a negative thing in our life..it just depends on the outcome of the change and it depends on what personality type you are to accept the change.
Lets talk on the personality types..I have studied the 4 different personality types over the last 7 years..being a people person...this is so easy for me to study up on..it is fascinating to me knowing how people respond to different things in their life based on their personality. For those of you who do not know what I am talking about...let me explain:
1. D=dominant type which is also known as the old version of choleric temperament.
2. I=inspriational type which is also known as sanguine.
3. S=supportive type but also known as phylagmatic
4. C=cautious, competent type is known as the old version of melancholy.
I am sure many of you have seen different versions of the personality profiles or even taken a few different tests..there is even a version described in animal terms..I think otter, dog, or something like that..I remember taking that test as well..
My favorite version has always been the "old school" method..of the choleric, sanguine, etc..types..I loved the book called "Personality Plus" by Florence Littauer. When I read this book 7 or 8 years ago it really made sense in my brain.
The other book I referenced above is from Robert A. Rohm he wrote the book called "Postive Personality Profiles" I actually had the honor to hear him speak a few years ago..I loved it!
So my point in explaining the personality traits is that change is all a matter of perspective. If you are the melancholy type of person you deal with change a lot harder than most..you are cautious, think over change a lot longer, you might not even like change..or it is difficult for you to deal with...I think of one of my best friends as having this personality..she married later in life (well it was later than the rest of us but really in society she was considered the norm in her age for this century) she was 30 almost 31....as much as she loves her husband..being married was a HUGE change for her...when you hear that first year of marriage can be the most difficult as the adjustment period..well it was for her...she was just used to her lifestyle as a single all those years...
Now, someone of my temperment: I am considered a mix...I am a sanguine and a strong choleric. You can learn to tone down different parts of your personality..LOL trust me on this..I have had to learn to tone down my dominant side of myself...people just do not like it when you tend to be a bossy type of person...it just does not flow..the positive part of my personality is that D's are the type of people who get things done...that can be a blessing or a curse in my life..as I am always the first to volunteer for just about anything out there..haha it drives my poor husband NUTS!Raising 4 boys under the age of 10, being a stay at home mom to them and volunteering for so many things and going in every direction..can be a lot..but see I thrive on this...it is my personality..Jim is very good to support me in all of my adventures..
I think back on my own life..of having 3 boys dropped into our laps in one day..plus in that same week buying a new house/moving/and we had to quickly find a mini van, as my current car at the time did not hold 4 boys in it (we already had my son, Landon who we had adopted in in 2005) now that is A LOT OF CHANGE to deal with...somehow my husband and I work well together and we took it all in stride dealing with it..I only remember feeling like I was having an out of body experience once..while in the shower, feeling like my head was spinning...:) The ages of our boys at that time in 2007 were: 5.5, 2.5, 1.5 and 6 months old..that was 3 sets of diapers to change..I told Jim I felt like a diaper changing machine..all day long..
In conculsion, I wanted to end my post on change with a quote from a current book I am reading called "Doing Life Differently, the Art of Living with Imagination" by Luci Swindoll. I love this book and can not seem to put it down..but if any of you out there know me and have been to my home..you have seem my current library of books..I LOVE to read..
Anyway Luci says "Every person is a combination of many factors woven together from the joys and sorrows of life. We're also the product of our choices. We're the result of what was or was not done for or to us by our parents, siblings, associates, and friends. The journey we're on is planned and watched over by a loving God who wants us to treasure the gift of being alive and who sets us free to participate in our own destiny. Embracing that journey-whatever it is for each of us, wherever it takes us-is imperative to capturing the spirit of adventure. When we realize our lives are to be given away, everything about our outlook changes and grows. God takes our youth and gives us in exchange his truth. We see and do things differently as a result. We think beyond our own borders. The world becomes accessible through the power of God's Spirit and love. We capture each moment, embrace the journey and go forward."
This truely sums up change to me..if you are contemplating change in your life..ask yourself..how will this add value to my life and to others? If you have a difficult time with change and need someone to talk with..that is what a life coach is for..I can help you make those changes..even if it is a career change. Sometimes we just have mental blocks we can not seem to over come in our brains and need to talk things out with someone who is not emotionally attached to us..like our family members or our best friends..they love and adore us but we really could use an outside person to talk with...for more information on my life/career coaching please see my website: www.laurapeiffer.com mention this blog and receive 15% off my services!!

The year to try new experiences!!
I just recently turned 36. I had such an amazing 35th year..I thought how would 36 top it? I have determined that my 36th year would be a year of trying to new things in my life.
I need to map out a game plan but I do know I want to try something new at least once a month for the entire year...so far:
In June: (June 13th is my birthday)
1. Attended Big Ticket Festival in Ionia, MI for 2 days...I took my oldest son on friday night, Devin...we had such a bonding moment together..I am so GLAD I did that with him. On Saturday I took our 2nd oldest son, Landon. Neither Devin or Landon had attended concerts before..so this was brand new to them as well..for me I had never attended so many concerts over a 2 day period... you just take your chairs and move around and listen to the bands that you enjoy..they had a ton of stuff for the boys to enjoy as well! It was amazing..I hope to take my entire family there next year...
2. Also in June..a friend of mine had free tickets to see New Kids on the Block in concert..it was very last minute..and I thought why not? 3 of us gals went and we are all the same age...we decided to dress up funky as we could from the 80's and 90's when they were popular...it was fun...we really enjoyed ourselves...I loved observing the crowd..they still have major groupies...and it was fun to watch 40 something year old men doing all kinds of moves..I enjoyed laughing...:)
July-
1. Now that our family is debt free..life is so much more enjoyable....we no longer have to tent camp as a cheap family vacation..we were able to rent a house for the first time ever...this place was AMAZING! I will try to post pictures of it later..we went 8 hours north from our house way up in the "UP" as those of us from Michigan call it...I had always wanted to see where my husband, Jim had attended school..so we drove 3 more hours north from our cabin to spend the day at Michigan Tech. It was a nice campus..so much smaller than what I expected..I knew it would not be as large as Michigan State University where I attended but still very small..lol Jim enjoyed showing me all the locations he lived during his college years..I was surprised there were so many places..as I only lived in 2 locations during college..
The house/cabin was in the middle of NO WHERE...in Rapid River, MI..seriously..there was NO ADDRESS...it was ran on a generator..for our electrial needs..it was amazing..we did not leave the house for 2 days straight as we just wanted to be together as a family..we did not see a single human..we LOVED it!! The drive-way to the house was almost a mile from the road..and it was right on the river..you just walk out the door a few feet to the river..beautiful!!!
2. On the way home from up north one of my very good friends, Alicia just opened up a health store..where she offers different services and supplements etc..in Gaylord, MI. So we stopped there to visit her...believe it or not..I had always wanted to try a Colonic for the last 10 years..I never have...so I decided to sign up for an appointment..it was interesting and I felt very clean after..LOL I would recommended it.
So far those are my new experiences for the year..I will keep you updated on the rest of the year.. :)
